The teens , not 1 but 2..

Never thought having 2 teens in the house is so bad !

Right from they were born, my life has undergone drastic changes .It went tipsy turvy , my center, perimeter, diameter everything being them- in terms of managing them, day care and office work. In their initial days if crying and not sleeping kept me awake, when they started crawling it was something else. After returning to our GPR Layout home in Blr after the initial few months of post delivery rest, i literaly had noone to support except for the initial 2-3 months. So from very young age, there was no option than to put them in day care, trust them with unknown maids and assure myself they are fine. Their daycare didn't use diapers, so had to sent 20-30 cloth napkins everyday, washed and dried until they were potty trained. I was adamant not to use diapers even at night, so this meant waking up 4-5 times in the night with wet nightwear having to change everything. I wanted to avoid bottle feeding from very young age due to fear of tooth decay , and this meant more effort to give them milk or water in small cups. Thanks to achan, they both ate in silver plate and drank from silver cups. Another worry was when they got sick - even the slightest cold kept me on toes, running for home remedies to avoid liver damage which English medicines would cause and so on and so forth. Both my kids were born healthy, thanks to Him, and even while growing up hospital visits were less frequent ! If the initial fear was if the little one would be in any way be harmed by the elder, later the fear was due to their fights often for the same thing .

I have hardly watched movie on TV during those days. Smart phone was anyways not there. No YouTuve, watsapp or Facebook. I was an active member in Orkut but after delivery shut that out too. I read books to them , showed pics and avoided showing TV to kids also much as possible.

With the toddlers when we moved to US in 2013. While there was a strong bonding between the two, the age gap being just 2 years, they fought a lot too, many times ending up in me shouting and beating them. At times, i have even hit myself for their mistakes ! One good thing about all this is kids don't remember much from their early years but it remains a scar for parents ! I still yell at them during the day and the only time i really look at them with love is in the morning while they are asleep. For the husband , kids have always been a bundle of joy, and he rarely reacts negative. He takes things lightly and the trio make a great one ! Kids are more open to their dad and though i get upset, it actually makes me happy as well.

Sreya and Anand will turn 15 and 13 next months !"Time flies", "cant believe kids grow so fast" apart, its another tough phase for me. I repeat the same things about discipline, time management, cleanliness but it just flies over their head. I know they will leave their nest soon and I am gonna miss them but cant help !

Kids-

I may not be there with you forever

but you guys should be there.

You talk the same language

your old gen mom may not understand

Don't fall into any traps, there would be so many

Be honest without expecting the same
