And then came Anand

This one is coming very late. I am a bad blogger and this is testimony to that !! Ever since i went on maternity beak, i havent turned back at this blogsite.Nevertheless, here it is - that great news...It was a baby boy :) Yes...my little boy Anand came to this world on July 14th and is part of my family of FOUR now !! 4 yrs back we were TWO, two years back, we became THREE and now we are FOUR !!! Really very fast..we had found a name for second one thinking it would be a girl and when Anand was born, it was a struggle finding a name. Hubby wouldnt agree to my suggestions and i wouldnt to his. on the 28th day ceremony, he came with the name and murmured into my son';s ears. My little Krishna was a long awaited boy for the family and so the name Anand. Just pray he does live unto his name :)

Sreya's second Birthday

19-Jun-2008 : Yday was my daughter's second birthday. We traditionally look at the birth star and not the DOB on English calendar for celebrating birthdays. When she got up around 4:30 in the morning (after a dream, i guess),we wished her happy Birthday. Sreya now understands 'Happy Birthday to you' because very month at her playschool she sees celebs happening. probably she loves the cakes, chips and balloons because they are things which are a strict "No,No" at home. She dozed off to sleep with us and got up around 6:30. We took her to a nearby temple and after getting back home, decided she would miss her school friends that day, instead play with her grandmom. I know it will make her granny tired but then we went ahead with that plan.We had made a small sadya, myself and mommy. though she maynot like the taste of dishes, i still wanted to make them because it was her bday. Cherishing the moments from Day1, i drove back to office. It has been a 'not-so-diffic...

Little suckers..

I hate mosquitoes..I hate them more now because they are always around my little daughter to suck her blood..I have an allergy to mosquito bites and so does she. What is so sweet about our blood or rather how does our blood taste different ? i am positive but my kid has a negative blood group. So whats there in common for these mosquitoes to be so attracted to us ? Now we have a "shishi" bat to kill the little blood suckers. We call it "shishi" (meaning hot ) so that sreya doesnt handle it..It has a small shock and we tell her, its daddy's bat and not hers. In the wee hours of night i have this habit of getting out of the net to go and "pee"...by the time i get back, there might be one or two mosquitoes inside. So i have to put on the lights, sometimes even wake up hubby (and listen to his curses on waking him from a sound sleep) and try to kill them or drive them out.A couple of days i didnt do this and lo ! my daughter is red all over with mosquito bit...

First rhyme

Do you remember the first rhyme you learnt ? Perhaps Not.Neither do i. But i know some of the rhymes my 22 month old knows. Of course, she cannot sing ano of them completely. Not all words are clear to all and she often sings other words which sound similar to the original. After all, how can we expect her to understand the exact words she sings. I still remember how i used to pronounce Standatties...without knowing what it means until some time back i learnt the word is 'Stand at Ease' !!Sreya can sing some of the rhymes like "Twinkle twinkle","Ba ba black sheep","Johny Johny","Ding dong bell" and so on. We have taught her some malayalam songs and she can sing them too. Of late, i have started narrating her stories in english and she nods her head as if she understands every bit.At the end , i would tell her the story in malayalam and lo ! she is so happy !! She forms small sentences and has started asking questions. She tries to speak w...

That friday evening

I was in a casual mood while leaving office on friday evening - nothing exciting was planned over the weekend. So i basically had to pick my darling from the day care and drive back home. There was a planned doc visit on saturday and mom would come over on sunday. The thought that i could relax for the next couple of days without any cooking made me happy. From the ODC area on 6th floor, i got out. While waiting for the lift, i saw Kris Gopalakishnan walking from towards the lift. He was in the floor below mine and i just saw him for a second. The green light blinked and i alighted theelevator. It stopped at floor 5 and there he came in - Kris himself and a chaffeur. I was so delighted. I was standing in attention and didnt utter a word. I have seen some very key directors of infy at the blore campus- Nandan , NRN , Sudha Murthy and Mohandas Pai but had not dared to speak to any of them. The lift stopped at floor 4 and some of the guys who got in wished and smiled at Kris. Finally when...

Diya's Birthday party

This is probably the third birthday party we are attending with Sreya.. The first one was in July 2007, the second in March 2008 and the third was yesterday , April 21st. This one was grand indeed. The host family was dressed in glitters and the party was in a grand resort. The food was good too. But most important, Sreya enjoyed running in the lawn, looking at the twinkle stars and her favourite "ambala",meaning moon.Even though she fell down a couple of times, she wouldnt mind.Because it doesnt hurt when you fall on the grass. In blore, there is hardly this kind of an open area for your kids except in large parks or resorts. So it was as if she had got a lot of freedom. I met two of my friends too after abt 3-4 years. In all, we had a great time at the party. In the bottom of my heart i feel sad because we never kept a party when Sreya turned 1.

Been a month now !!!

A month since i last blogged..Phew !! I am indeed a bad blogger..but then there is one more thing. I dont have anything to write infact nothing interesting to pen down..Though i was very busy last month, i am relatively free for past couple of weeks..i am attending some trainings and want to study for a couple of mandatory cert (This has not been happening though !! ). Of late, on top of my mind, i have been worrying about just one thing - my daughter's delayed teething. I have searched the internet as to what could be the causes, treatments etc but the more i read, the more frustrated i become. My sweet kid has just abt 8 teeth and she is about to turn two !! When i see a mouth full of teeth in other kids of her age, i feel so bad. What could i do !! I have been taking good care of her, giving her homemade food, supposedly balanced also.could she be having some deficiency ? I dont know..we had done a couple of blood tests but all of them turned out normal. But i cant stop worrying....

In pensive mood

Today is good Friday and i am supposed to be on PTO. But i am working. When i decided to work on New Year Day, it was with the idea of taking off on this day, Jan 1st - March 21 being an optional one. I had some plans to even go on a small package trip inside Bangalore. But things change so fast. When i started blogging a couple of weeks back,i was kinda free. But now i am very busy. I am not a sincere blogger, i must admit.I am not in high spirits either, after a bad day at home !! so i want to go back, get things back into shape and enjoii the weekend. Wish myself the very best !

Windows 2008

She looks out of the window whenever she gets a chance. It is her way to look at the outside world from inside. She is excited watching the people jogging or going on morning walks, new house constructions, birds chirping on tree tops or flying high in the sky, school bus coming to pick the kids - everything amazes her. She is too small to exactly understand whats going on but when she stands there, she sure is happy. Yes, the windows in our apartment in Bangalore is Sreya's favourite sight seeing spot and sometimes her trekkking spot too.

Assertive "No"..

The other day i attended a training on Assertiveness Skills. I took it as part of my regular training plan and not to understand how/when to say "No". People around have always known me as a pretty strict and direct person. I would tell things frankly, without apprehensions about what the listener would feel. But i know i have changed a lot with time. I dont open up many a time but i certainly have to be assertive to a large extent at workplace. During my early days as a developer in 2003, I would take up piles of work on my shoulders and toil on weekdays/weekends to finish it. After a couple of years, I realised there is no use working like a donkey. I had to be smart. Its ok to be a workaholic if you are a bachelor but not when you have a family. So i became a little firm in my decisions. I would signal my boss well in advance if things were not coming out as expected. I started to plan and foresee risks. If things are so very urgent/critical, i do work late night/on weekend...

I am a mommy :)

July 9th,2006. It was midnight. I had been admitted in the hospital since July 3rd. After a full week in the air conditioned room there enjoying food and visitors, i was trying to grab some sleep. My mom was lying in the other bed and she was fast asleep. Sree was in the room watching world cup football finals.I was feeling some butterflies in the stomach and was trying hard to catch the train of sleep. In vain..i couldnot sleep. I aksed him to switch off the TV so that i could sleep but he wouldnt do that either. After a while, i could sense a fluid leak. And it must have been about 1am on July10th, i started feeling some sort of pain (labour pain,is it ? not sure). I told my hubby and he rushed out to call the nurse. She came and in a very casual way said, "looks like labor pain. This would continue for few hours now.pray for a normal delivery." I told myself "Yes..the pain had started. But how many hours?". My mom had got up by then and sat beside me. The pain made ...

The wedlock

Any parent (atleast an Indian parent definitely) would agree if i say that they start getting worried once their young, sizzling daughters graduate ie, attain something like 22-23 years fo age. In the traditional sections of society, they would start looking for someone to give their daughter's hand at much younger ages. Have heard some grandmas saying they got married at 12-13 etc..cant imagine. I swaer i was a kid then). But i would believe that was much older times or you have to be a tribe or something. Well, whatever the age be, at some point in time, parents start thinking about their daughter's next responsibility, as a wife. Then starts the hunt for a matching groom. If the daughter is smart enough, she selects one herself and tries to get a consent from her parents. Sometimes even the "consent" part doesnot happen. She runs away from home, gets the marriage registered or starts living with her lover.(There might be hundred other ways too of which i am not awar...

The slow tortoise....

Guess why this title for the blog :) Simply because I have been always late learning new things..(though some of my school friends would disagree - they even now say i am a studious person)esp when it comes to new technologies. My mind is so old and i like to remain an old fashioned person, untouched by changes in this modern world. So was it with blogs too. Infy had started internal blogs more than an year back and i hadnt even attempted to learn how to even read one, forget creating one. Thanks to the freetime i got oflate at office, i started finding out how to login into the internal blog site and started reading blogs. I wondered for a week or so about the multi talented people around me and later when i got a net connection at home, i went orkutting again. Came to know of blogs of umpteen friends and thanks to all that, i could create a blog of my own and start blogging too.It feels awesome to put in your thoughts in such a nice way(i mean using the click of a mouse or a key press)...

Hurray !!

My first two lines in the blog !!! I just created one..till now i had only been reading blogs..now i have one too..my own :) Hurray !!
