Close to heart but LOST
The pearl and gold necklace..
About 2 years ago, i realised that i had lost the pearl embedded gold necklace which was bought for my wedding. I cannot recollect the last time i wore it , so it is difficult to narrow down the point when the necklace went missing.Memory says it was bought when ammuma gave a cheque of 25000 (?). Those days 8 grams of gold (1 pavan) was less than Rs 5000. This one was about 5 pavans and though i liked its design, i remember telling amma to buy something which will help with the wedding chains.(We didnt hae the luxury to buy lot of gold or change this again). Long story short, we zeroed in on this and bought it. I wore it for Nannu's wedding in 2010 and may be in 1-2 more occasions. Post any wedding, normally we come back to Madathil and then i take off all the gold. In case , we are unable to go to bank and deposit it there before returning to Blr, Husband hides it in some old shirt or shoe. I don't remember the last time i wore but couple of years , when we checked the locker, it was missing. Since then i have checked nook and corner of our bedroom upstairs and Blr too but in vain. Last time when we were there for about 6 months, i did the same excercise all over again, looking into old cloth bags, shoes etc only to find dead cockroaches and spiders. I cannot bear the loss of anything, be it even a grain of rice though more than happy donating clothes, shoes or eatables to the needy. This loss haunts me everyday. Each gram of gold they gave me is their hard work and even if i get richer to buy 10 such necklaces, this will still remain a pain.
Titan Raga Watch
While in US, this bug hit me. Owning a Titan watch was a dream until then but after getting to US, i had the fortune of buying Citizen eco drive (solar) and an Anne Clein watch. But the craziness in me for Titan became uncontrollable and when Swati went to India in Dec 2017 , i ordered a Raga watch via Amazon and delivered to her home in Hyd. She religiously carried it to US and it was as expected. A lovely watch with a deep blue dial. 2018 we packed up for India and after reaching here, i realised it was missing. We opened every box an searched all the bags. Finally the Husband ordered a similar watch again to make me happy though i still lamented at the loss of it (money) ! But later we found it and ended gifting the newer one to Sree's relative. So now i had 3-4 watches, which i wore in turns. Another issue of surplus is you lose interest to even wear it. You tend to forget what you have ! If you have only 1 watch, then you always wear it and safeguard it. With corona and wfh, outings were minimal. Somehow i forgot about it and now it is nowhere to be seen. I searched it in every possible place , all my bags , wallets, locker . Today , it costs 7295 ! I don't need anymore watches but i want to get this back !
PS : There might be other things which i might have lost and not even aware. Better to live with just our needs and not go behind the endless wants !
