Tiny little happy things...

Corona times taught many a lesson. The COVID 19 breakout started early 2020 in China but spread all over. WHO declared it a pandemic//initial death rates were very high. In Mar2020, husband had to travel to Kerala but just got back home in time...A day after, airports were closed. Lock down of various form and vigor followed. PM Narendra Modi addressed Indians to stay home. Life came to standstill. Maids, construction workers, taxi ,bus drivers , newspaper boys disappeared from the neighborhood as the restrictions set in. Malls and movie theaters closed down. Only essential goods and their supply continued and rest everything was banned. Cops were on roads to fine people who didn't follow the strict rules. Kids schools closed mid March and even annual exams did not complete. It was one of the greatest disruptions that our generation has seen(/would ever see ?) .Everything was being done to prevent the spread, break the chain but little did anyone know that this was to stay longer.

Being at home all day, everyone felt more hungry than usual and snacks became a regular thing. I found some easy cake recipes and found great pleasure baking. Marble cake, wheat cake and date cake became a regular thing. During one of those cooking expeditions, we came across Veena's Curryworld recipe for "paal payasam"(kheer with milk). Super easy and yummy..Husband's favorite channel was Annama chedathi where a 70 yr old lady and her son were presenting dishes and recipes in naadan style. Live to eat became synonymous for our COVID homestay.

SM Grandmart ,super market right in front of RBD Stillwaters, was another happiness place. Once in 2 weeks, i used to go there with the husband and shop for essentials. Oreo Red velvet diary milk was my new fund favorite and i would pick a couple of them too after every grocery shopping. The whole experience was a joyful one in these 'stay at home time' .Many a time we would just go for casual walk in the community, end up shopping and having the items delivered at doorstep . Back at home, the pleasure of eating the red velvet chocolate (sometimes all by myself ) would make me feel like a 10 year old,  condensing the mountain of guilt.
