Corona 2020

Mar 2020 :
Family under roof for the longest amount of time ! That is the best thing about Corona time if you ask me.

It was beginning of March and my worry was around how to manage kid's exam and study holidays/exam schedule . Amma had decided to postpone her trip to May due to Hari's vocational training class and both Sreya and Anand had different exam schedule.
While it was important for me to be at work (thanks to my role of Service Delivery Manager@LinkedIn) , my family was no less important. I couldn't imagine leaving either one at home all day alone , not sure what they would end up doing ( also exposed to TV and other electronics of course). Around that time, COVID 19 virus and its fatality was making news. Though initially i thought it was happening in Wuhan and was far away, soon news came of a couple who had come to Kerala and was tested COVID positive. Flights were cancelled and international travellers were getting badly stuck. Sree was getting ready to fly home to attend the temple festival  for 4 days. And here I was confused and paranoid. The COVID 19 business created havoc. Hand sanitizers became the most sort after item in all stores and so were face masks.
Sreya's exam started as planned while Anand's exams were put on hold. Sree went home and got just in time before govt declared Janata curfew. Soon, Sreya's exams were also put on hold and kids started celebrating the early onset of Summer holidays. New mantra was "Stay Home, Stay Safe". People felt safe staying indoors. The husband was daily monitoring death rates across the globe, hotspots and such on app. Whatsapp groups were flooded with messages about deaths all over the world. What started in China wrecked the world. Fearing deprivation of essentials , we stocked up provisions. As Anand remarked, it was the first time we had big biscuit packets at home. Anand and friends soon stopped playing outdoors. Community gym and other clubhouse facilities got locked down and staying home became the new normal.
I was glad for many reasons. Not going to office meant longer sleep times. Schools closed meant no dabba packing . The husband was at home the entire day. Couldn't ask for more. I started loving the new normal. My chores remained pretty same , in fact lighter as the family started helping. Work did take a toll on me but still the thought of not dressing up and going made me happy.

Aug 2020 :
Another wonderful thing which happened during lockdown was the "RBD mallu koottayma "..Sree got a nice company - Saji, Toney, Anoop, Manoj, Prashanth, Dhanush ,Linto etc . Saji introduced him to sister's convent in Carmelaram which had vast groves of mangoes, jackfruit, avocado etc. During May-June months, we got to enjoy lot of these farm fresh fruits. This group also had a lot of cycling enthusiasts and the husband had a great time exploring Bangalore. August was also good for me as we got back on exercise schedule. Slowly started running around the villa area for a km and later on to 4-5 km daily.

Sep 2020 :
This post is written in 3 parts as the month signifies. The first one in March, second one in Aug and the third one in Sep . Corona is still around and no vaccinations found. Deaths happening all over but normal life is slowly getting restored. People are trying to cope up with the new normal. Though IT crowd continue to work from home most others have resumed office /site work.
We decided to drive down to Kerala and stay in quarantine for 14 days. ....
