God's Plan ...

I am happy and keep telling this to my heart , mind and brain. 2019 ended with a 10 day break in December ..we were in Kerala and unlike the other times we travelled a lot - wedding, Guruvayoor, Munnar and the best was lot of time with the husband which is usually rare. (There was a death in the family too but even there we spent time together !) Perhaps only thing he couldn't fulfill (i pulled him back), was this dish called Kuzhimanthi (a different version of biriyani) ... He was upset with me but I guess we made it up by night ( special hugs and kisses ).. While 2019 ended in a high , 2020 hasn't been going well ( on the workfront atleast). After joining LinkedIn account , I had to come out of the comfort zone at Cisco (my cocoon for 12 years ! ). Everything from client to process to team was new. My stress issues popped up and it was getting difficult again. What I thought was over came back again. Morning walks with the Husband became thing of the past , instead I was al...

An ode to you...

Love and colour of my life...Best half ! Nothing is more magical than a surprise from you Nothing more melodious than you calling me ( 'Ammu' ) Nothing more valuable than a kiss planted on my forehead Nothing more tranquilizing than a morning walk with you Nothing more unwinding than a drive with you Nothing merrier than sight seeing holding your hands Nothing tastier than a meal you cook Nothing more refreshing than watching sunrise and sunset with you Nothing more relaxing than sleeping with you Nothing more exhausting than fighting with you and nothing more painful than parting with you ! I want to live every second with you, and grow old with you.

The BIG 5 @America

So i didnt blog for the last 5 years..where was I ? in America ! I travelled, hiked, did excercise, ate quinoa, started gymming and even completed (ran and walked of course) a half marathon ! I cooked and cooked and cooked ! Learnt left hand driving and drove a Toyota Corolla.Started using dish washer and learnt to bake and grill food. How i loved America ! Healthy eating and healthy living was our mantra.  Loved the fall colors, the Emerald blue waters of Tahoe, the motivating Mission peak, the ever challenging PG&E trail, the downtown city walks, Ikea visits ,vineyards of Napa, Chihuli's glass art and what not ! Rewind to 2012, when my H1B Out of Cap visa was initiated by the then Delivery Manager, i never thought i would travel. As it progressed, my mind yearned for a fitting oppurtunity. With little kids, i was apprehensive about travel and knew Sree wouldn't join as he was in an Indian project. I approached my boss couple of times saying I wont be able to travel as kids...

My World

At some point, i used to think we would make lot of wealth if after settling back In India, you continued in US or did a monthly job in the Gulf and return home for holiday once every 21 days ? not anymore. I need that one warm hug everyday and your broad shoulders to cuddle up every night. Those everyday letters i wrote after engagement ,wish i had them here to read while you are on travel. I had a special ring tone for you , though incoming calls were rare ! Remember the ONE time we met in Bangalore before marriage ? the one time just the two of us know :) your eyes were gleaming with true love . I can still feel your breath by my neck ! Heart was full of joy but nervous too. Fifteen years and counting, joy has only multiplied. Nervousness has vanished.. You are present in my every wish and dream. I want to wear big earrings or silk saree, that is because you are with me. I want to dress up and look beautiful because you are by my side. I want to welcome guests and have parties b...

My 'Someone'

I want someone to wish "hello" and plant a kiss on my forehead every single morning, I want someone to instill confidence in me not by isolating but by being together, I want someone to teach me by learning with me, I want someone to pat my back and not just wait for mistake, I want someone to share the chores and not just recommend all the course I want someone to lift me and cheer me , not just when i fall down I want someone to share my sorrows and treasure my joys I want someone to listen to my worries and soothe me I want someone to talks, thinks and laughs with me I want someone to wrap me tight and whisper in my ears 'here is my light' In him I will confide and feel like 'one' !

V Day 2013

My first post this year.... Valentine's Day 2013 is over. As like last many years, this year too the promo started weeks before. Wonder how many crores were spend on gifts and flowers though my husband did not spend a penny. Starting from the early morning FM radio shows to newspapers to Facebook, every thing had the 'V' touch. While the poor wouldn't have known about this lovely 'love' day, i feel its JUST another day to celebrate for the affluent. JUST another time to pass time with friends, gift each other and . Let me be frank, its not the 'J' in my me that makes me write this, that is actually what happens. Needless to say, i would only be more than happy to have an add on in my collections. Since past few years, i feel i should wear a nice red salwar on this day but then i would realise that i don't have a good one. This year when i had a red salwar ,my idea changed to having lunch with Sree (we don't even have dinner together these day...

Weekend snacks...

Made parippu vada last weekend. My first attempt at it in so many years. I am a great fan of this and had been lucky enough to eat without taking pain to cook. I have eaten the home made parippu vadas made by maid, mother and mother in law. It tastes super. Yesterday, i followed my instincts to mix the ingredient and fried it. Generally a health freak, at times, i slip down to do bit of deep frying or generous spread of ghee on otherwise sukha rotis/paranthas. It was not very spicy but at the same time tasted good ,except for the uneven spread of salt. Kids and myself loved it. With a cup of chana dal, i made about 15 medium sized vadas. Should have made hot tea as well, but had so many household chores to complete, i let the tea part aside. As an adult i wasnt a good cook ever(i mean still not), but of late deriving inspiration from cookery blogs like Mariasmenu, Sharmi's passion etc, i have started trying out new things like cakes, snacks, fried rices, paneer curry etc.The recent fe...
