The BIG 5 @America

So i didnt blog for the last 5 years..where was I ? in America !
I travelled, hiked, did excercise, ate quinoa, started gymming and even completed (ran and walked of course) a half marathon ! I cooked and cooked and cooked ! Learnt left hand driving and drove a Toyota Corolla.Started using dish washer and learnt to bake and grill food. How i loved America ! Healthy eating and healthy living was our mantra.

Loved the fall colors, the Emerald blue waters of Tahoe, the motivating Mission peak, the ever challenging PG&E trail, the downtown city walks, Ikea visits ,vineyards of Napa, Chihuli's glass art and what not !

Rewind to 2012, when my H1B Out of Cap visa was initiated by the then Delivery Manager, i never thought i would travel. As it progressed, my mind yearned for a fitting oppurtunity. With little kids, i was apprehensive about travel and knew Sree wouldn't join as he was in an Indian project. I approached my boss couple of times saying I wont be able to travel as kids are little etc. He however pacified saying we will process visa but will not force you to travel. I went with my little daughter to get visa stamped and soon after an oppurtunity came up. Client interview followed and before i could firm up my mind travel date was finalized. Alas ! The husband didn't even have visa and here i am gearing up for travel in next couple of days. Since summer vacation was starting for kids, plan was to leave them with grandparents so i could travel. I landed in Silicon valley and started my work, all the time thinking about the mistake i did by getting visa processed without Sree's ! An act by the Almighty, Sree's manager agreed to release him from India unit and in Apple account he was given an oppurtunity. His L1 visa got initiated and in less than 3 months, he joined me in same city with kids. That marked the beginning of our 5 year tenure in United States. It was a dream life for kids too ! They fell in love with everything there and made great friends. My daughter began training as a swimmer, while also doing gymnastics and piano. My little boy who hardly knew a word in English started talking so naturally and spontaneously in their language. School was a breeze for kids and library became their world. He started coaching in chess while still very small and even started playing in tournaments. I had a gala time too with awesome managers and colleagues. Days of pride and freedom !

Weekends were spent in travel or gettogethers. Lot of food , fun and exercise too..we got introduced to so many new foods - Avocado shake became one of my fav and Sushi my husband's ! . We visited India only once and everything was green and joyful. After another year, thought of returning to India became stronger and finally, we decided to end the American dream and pack up !
