COVID and WFH '2020

COVID was a pandemic which turned things upside down for almost everyone - the rich and, the poor, the optimists and the pessimists, the powerful and the powerless, theists and atheists - all over the world. The epicenter was a province called Wuhan in China but the spread was wide with many casualties around the globe. Around Feb'20, India declared lockdown ,excluding only essential services. Masks became a common thing and hand sanitizers almost disappeared from shelves instantaneously due to huge demand. We continued routine as usual - with work and school. However, in March kid's exams got cancelled and the seriousness of the situation was more than we had imagined. Infosys declared work from home and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) was evoked. the husband continued to go to office but kids stayed home with me. Work was as hectic as it could be .

Summer holidays started and Appu used to go out and play with friends. However, within few days some super anxious parents felt this was not right and he started staying indoors which meant more time with laptop. I was thankful we had a terrace , some greenery around and a spacious flat where all 4 of us could carry on with work/school without disturbing each other. Going to shops became a hard reality and everything was online ordering.( Amazon share prices would have sky rocketed, i am sure !) We had not still decided about Kerala trip due to restrictions in place. The whole situation was ambiguous and we  were not sure when offices would start and schools reopen , getting back to normal days.

Finally , post Onam we decided to pack and travel to Kerala. E-pass and transit pass for TN was taken and we travelled on Sep 18. Luckily just before that, in laws had completed some truss work near kitchen area, extending the verandah area. We remained in home quarantine for 2 weeks. Mostly upstairs , coming down to the kitchen side area for meals .Hardly any health workers visited us though they called couple of times on phone to make sure we did not show any symptoms. Internet broadband connection was taken and all 4 of us started working.
