The grand summer wedding !

To me, my mom's place and relatives were more near. One reason definitely was the distance and hence the chances of getting to see and spending more time with them. Me and my brother used to spend summer vacations with grandparents and cousins. I cherish those days of watching movies (both in theatre and VCR),occasional temple visits, vishu kaineettams, tasty food (pappads, chips as well)from my grandma, tales from my grandad about his military days etc. After a long 10 months of school, this was defnitely a good break. For reasons, good and bad, dad's native and his relatives were always very far. Last week, for a marriage, we decided to go there and spend couple of days in the malabar, walk on the banks of Bharathapuzha and relish some good moments in the serene land. I had opted a week long vacation from work, so it gave me enough time to plan the trip. Along with parents and kids, we reached the wedding house in the afternoon. The house was so well decorated with a huge white pandhal at the entrance that i felt i was watching a movie shoot. Grandeur was seen in the ornaments, dresses and in the household. For natives in this place, Dubai is like any other city in kerala(Except for my dad and his siblings , i think from every family, there is atleast one person who works in Dubai). The sparkling gold on their body is a testimony for this.

After dinner, we went to room to catch the night's sleep. I was very happy seeing relatives whom i had seen as a child and faintly remembered.  The next day i woke up when Sree was at the door . The KTDC room we stayed was right beside the banks of Bharathapuzha. Sree woke kids up and they all went there for bath and a morning stroll. While we dressed up, they were back. By 8, we were back in the wedding house. I spent good time gazing at the fineness of the pandhal arrangement - the hardship and expertise behind it and the splendour. Kids had company and there was no stopping them from playing. Breakfast, lunch, dinner for the wedding day was being cooked at the premises and that added to the pomp.It was a wonderful sight to see chicken , biriyani and the traditional sadya being prepared in large vessels. Binitha and Sreejith's wedding..the big bungalow was full of people and laughters..
Photographers covered the event very well and we all had a gala time.

How i wish Sreekutty's marriage also happens in our home. Draped in stone studded saree, wearing lot of jewels, my cheeku walking down the stairs while everyone would gaze at her, praising her jewels and the decor  - perhaps it will only remain in my dreams !
