The wedlock
Any parent (atleast an Indian parent definitely) would agree if i say that they start getting worried once their young, sizzling daughters graduate ie, attain something like 22-23 years fo age. In the traditional sections of society, they would start looking for someone to give their daughter's hand at much younger ages. Have heard some grandmas saying they got married at 12-13 etc..cant imagine. I swaer i was a kid then). But i would believe that was much older times or you have to be a tribe or something. Well, whatever the age be, at some point in time, parents start thinking about their daughter's next responsibility, as a wife. Then starts the hunt for a matching groom. If the daughter is smart enough, she selects one herself and tries to get a consent from her parents. Sometimes even the "consent" part doesnot happen. She runs away from home, gets the marriage registered or starts living with her lover.(There might be hundred other ways too of which i am not aware) Unlike in olden times, the search for brides/grooms have become much easier with tons of online services as well. and yo, parents have literally entered the marriage market. So was with my parents too. And on began the search when i was around 22 years of age. I had just landed in a job and my priority was working with freedom. I was away from home for the first time, so far. Inspite of all the home sickness, i was enjoying everything on the new job and frankly, i didnt want them to end. My dad had earlier promised me that the decision to search my life partmer would be mine (though not completely) but later he stepped back. My mom went to the astrologer many times with tens of horoscope every time, trying to find a match for me. Atlast they did find my match and the so called traditional "pennu kanal" as we say in malayalam(translates to bride seeing ceremony in english) happened on July 31st,2004.They came, saw and gave green signal for the wedding. One nice thing about the whole function was that it was the first (and hopefully last too) for me and Sree (t.w). On Aug 26th, we got formally engaged and on Oct31 the same year, the wedding was solemnised in the presence of a huge gathering. And yes, i became Mrs from Miss.
